Preparing for the Creek Preschool's Pictures

Today I photographed some of the children at The Creek Preschool in preparation for the real Spring Pictures happening at the end of March. I was just so thrilled at how the images turned out - because their parents didn't know they were having pictures taken today, and the children had been at school since 8:30 that morning running and playing, and even napping before we had the shoot and you can't even tell! Here's a few of my favorites.

River 47 Wedding

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at my own church, which was both a great honor and a great challenge.

This has been my church for over 20 years now; I know every bit of it, so it should be a simple photo assignment. However, the place is somewhat old - not antique, picturesque, old either - and it created more of an "orange pews and bad lighting" fear for me than a sense of comfort. Add that to the fact that I was going to have to stay in the back after the grand entrance and that flash photography wasn't allowed... I shouldn't have worried.

Everything was beautiful! Everything I feared in the lighting conditions came together to create a gorgeous warm glow in the room. Working with only the available light allowed the images to be the way they should always be - unencumbered by artificial flash and harsh shadows.

This wedding has inspired me to re-examine my lighting - and to take more chances with natural light!
