Weisenberger - Short Wedding is Coming

My brother Kenny's wedding is coming up the first Saturday in May, and now that its April, May is scary-close around the corner. While I'm not photographing the wedding, I am in the wedding party, and this Sunday my mom and I are hosting a shower for Selah. As preparations for the shower are in full swing, it brings to mind memories of my own wedding preparations just a year ago. I'm so excited for them both.

Here are a few pictures from their engagement session. I can't believe these were taken last October! It feels like just last week when we were at the beach...

Carlson Creations

I'm thrilled to announce the start of my own photo jewelry line - Carlson Creations!

All the jewelry is handmade by me and each image is sealed into the frame making them protected against accidental exposure to water.

This is my first piece, and what I wear every day: Its a photo of my husband and me on our wedding day right after we shared our first kiss.

The Double Drop Hearts necklace was a lot of fun to make - I especially love the way everything about the piece showcases love.

You can see more pieces as they're released at the Carlson Photography Store

Preparing for the Creek Preschool's Pictures

Today I photographed some of the children at The Creek Preschool in preparation for the real Spring Pictures happening at the end of March. I was just so thrilled at how the images turned out - because their parents didn't know they were having pictures taken today, and the children had been at school since 8:30 that morning running and playing, and even napping before we had the shoot and you can't even tell! Here's a few of my favorites.

River 47 Wedding

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at my own church, which was both a great honor and a great challenge.

This has been my church for over 20 years now; I know every bit of it, so it should be a simple photo assignment. However, the place is somewhat old - not antique, picturesque, old either - and it created more of an "orange pews and bad lighting" fear for me than a sense of comfort. Add that to the fact that I was going to have to stay in the back after the grand entrance and that flash photography wasn't allowed... I shouldn't have worried.

Everything was beautiful! Everything I feared in the lighting conditions came together to create a gorgeous warm glow in the room. Working with only the available light allowed the images to be the way they should always be - unencumbered by artificial flash and harsh shadows.

This wedding has inspired me to re-examine my lighting - and to take more chances with natural light!
